Pilates uses an array of controlled movements performed on a mat, reformer or specially designed equipment. This discipline builds a circle of strength around the center of the trunk, called the “Central Core”. Strengthening the muscles in this area protects the spine and internal organs. It also gives you the ability to control the upper and lower body areas while still protecting and stabilizing the spine. The core stabilization exercises help to attain and maintain natural alignment, flexibility and a uniformly developed body with a sound mind enriching quality of life.
